About This Blog
I’m not one for setting New Year’s Resolutions. I almost never do. And this year was no exception.
It wasn’t so much a resolution, as a goal– something I wanted to do and started to do and wanted to continue doing. That goal was to WRITE. Not ‘get published’, not ‘become famous’. Although I’ll take that, if the stars should align and that’s offered– I doubt it’s coming.
Over the last year, writing has been somewhat of an outlet for me. When I don’t do it, I feel full to overflowing, like words are hammering against my brain, trying to escape. So I write. Sometimes nothing’s there– I write anyway. I write stories and shorts and snippets and writing exercises, to just keep getting better.
This blog (and the archive also on this domain- thesweetescape.net) were created so that everything could be in one place, where anyone could get to it. I had some of them on a message board, some of them under lock and key, some of them saved on my laptop– now everything can be found here, and the blog gives me a little more room to *flail* about whatever I’m working on, with (I hope) people who understand.
The hardest thing for me to do is to share what I’ve written, because I feel so inadequate and because I feel like I may be too sensitive to hear the truth. Though, if my goal is to get better, I need to hear, and LISTEN to what people have to say.
So, I hope people feel the urge to say it, good or bad. I won’t promise to not get offended. I will promise to read and eventually consider and make changes if necessary.
Thanks for your time and your good thoughts and I’ll return them in kind!
