Happy Friday, good people! Happy to have you here!

It’s time for another installment of Friday Reads, where I chat about what I’m about to get into over the weekend. We MIGHT get some inclement weather for five minutes, but I’m READY. With books, at least!

This weekend I’ll be trying to finish two novels:

Second House from the Corner Second House from the Corner

by Sadeqa Johnson

Available Feb 9, 2016

Second House from the Corner centers on the story of Felicia Lyons, a stay-at-home mother of three drowning in the drudgeries of play dates, lost pacifiers and potty training who occasionally wonders what it would be like to escape the demands of motherhood. But when an unexpected phone call threatens to destroy her life, Felicia is forced to return to her childhood home where she must wrestle with an ex-lover and long buried secrets to save the family and home she loves despite the daily challenges.

Passion's Song (Bayou Dreams)Passion’s Song (Bayou Dreams)

by Farrah Rochon

Available Jan 19 (paperback) and Feb 1(ebook),2016

New Orleans has always been a musical city, and April Knight quickly fell under its spell. Despite the challenges of poverty and disillusionment, April defied everyone to realize her dream of becoming a celebrated cellist. Buoyed by her success, she’s returned to the Ninth Ward to share her encouragement and enthusiasm with the local youth, unaware of a new passion that awaits.

Years ago, Damien Alexander encouraged April to follow her ambitions, even as he followed his own. Now he has the opportunity to revitalize his old neighborhood, and he needs April’s grace and charm to woo investors. Instead of the platonic arrangement they expected, a swift and intense spark of attraction suddenly changes the dynamic of their relationship. Will they be able to help their community and answer the sweet, sweet melody of love?

How about you? What are YOU reading?
