Natalie Bourne thinks she has the perfect night planned for her twenty-first birthday. But when her car breaks down and her boyfriend bails on her, she’s left stranded in an auto shop dealing with a way too cocky, way too hot mechanic, who seems to be intent on pushing every button she has.

Monroe Hawkins knows he shouldn’t be messing with a girl from the uppity private college. Especially when he can tell she sees him as the help. But he’s having trouble resisting the redhead with the smart mouth and the killer legs. So when Natalie’s night goes from bad to worse, there’s no way he’s letting her spend her birthday alone. He makes her a deal—he’ll take her home but not until the sun comes up.

Ten hours, one motorcycle, and the city of Austin at their fingertips…things are about to take a major detour. And soon, there may be no U-turn in sight.

This novella was included in the Riding Desire Boxed Set, which is no longer available. But Nice Girls Don't Ride will be available again in April 2015 as a standalone from Penguin Intermix!

I originally read this novel as part of the Riding Desires Boxed Set and thoroughly enjoyed it! The perfect amount of rugged manliness meets a a bit of a wild child hidden under a layer of prim and proper princess. Monroe Hawkins’ new job is to wear away that layer of nice girl and reveal the Natalie that wants to have a little fun.

Nice Girls don’t do a lot of things. Believe me, I know… as a self proclaimed Nice Girl, there’s a lot of things we don’t do. Firstly, we don’t accept rides from strangers, not even hot, sexy, muscular, tatted, tan ones with pretty eyes. Nice girls don’t hop on motorcycle and speed to a restaurant where she hopes to catch her douche of a boyfriend (oh, now ex boyfriend) on the date he’s supposed to be on with her. Nice Girls definitely don’t knee said now ex boyfriend in the groin and pour a bottle of expensive wine in a couture bag– that belongs to her backstabbing roomie.

And Nice Girls definitely don’t make a show of giving sexy tatted man a steamy kiss in the middle of a restaurant, and then ride off with him in the sunset on the promise of a night of wild fun.

And what a night it is!

Nice Girls Don’t Ride is such a delightful departure from Roni’s usually darker, sexier prose but it’s not devoid of her skill and talent at drawing you into the story and making you feel like you’re in the room. The sex scenes are red-hot, but the more intimate scenes where Natalie and Monroe are talking and learning about each other and beginning to have ~feelings~ for each other, despite the fact that he’s about to leave town for three months… that’s what I love about reading a romance. Beginnings are beautiful to me!

This is a shortie at 100 pages, but the perfect length to whet your whistle for a fun romp with a sexy dude and a hot chick. And, as a Nice Girl who might actually ride, I found I had a lot in common with Natalie and I’m betting a lot of other readers will too!
