I was thinking about this story the other day, so I thought I’d post it up for Writing Wednesday. I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus as far as reading and writing go. I’m a bit burnt and tired, so a break was in order. But since this story was on my mind, I’m posting today.
This was a response to a writing exercise, jotted down in just a few minutes. The prompt was heartbreak; I wracked my brain for an idea that had nothing to do with a girl not getting the guy. Or a pair of shoes. THis is what came out.
If you know me at all, you know I drool over a Paul Cleave book. I stalk Amazon right after his LAST book publishes to see when his NEXT book is coming out. I’m a die hard, devoted STAN, so this review/rating should come as NO SURPRISE to people who follow me, but just in case you’re new to Cleave or to me, let me make an effort at articulating my thoughts about this book.
This is a historical romance, so I was intrigued at how Ruby, initially disappointed, near disgusted at how Adam denied so much of his very being came around to not only work with him, study with him, but eventually love him and risk her life for him. A Virtuous Ruby was a page turner in every sense of the word.. drama, suspense, romance, even a little humor because Ruby’s little sister Delie was HILARIOUS.
As Ruby’s father says of his daughters, “They are jewels, every one of them. My girls are going to be somebody.” They certainly are. This is going to be a great series and I’ve already pre-ordered A Most Precious Pearl.
What Farrah Rochon does best is pick you up and plant you in the story. I always feel like I am standing on a street corner watching conversations; sitting at a table and joining in on the joking; a fly on the wall during some steamy steamy HAWT love scenes. This was a great read just because it was from Farrah, but also because it’s another visit to one of my favorite fictional hometowns.
Today’s blog tour stop is KimTalksBooks! Kim Golden is a new author #fran who writes beautiful interracial romances set in Denmark and Sweden. I have GOBBLED UP her Maybe… series and today she was kind enough to host me for my release week festivities!

Call On Me is the 8th (I can’t believe we’re at book EIGHT, considering I remember buying book ONE and devouring it in hours) in the Loving On the Edge series– books featuring dark prose and sinful, delectable love stories. I get excited for a new release because I love a great storyteller.
Wesley is skilled at putting together an engaging story that makes you laugh and gives you that warm, happily ever after feeling.
Whew! Thanks for joining me for the LAST Sample Sunday before this book hits the shelves and let me tell you… I’m ready.
