I don’t have much of an update for Writing Wednesday so I decided to do a meme. It turned out to be kind of fun. I feel like I would learn so much from other writers just by reading their answers. I stole this from here. THANKS!
What’s your favourite genre of writing? – I write adult fiction, some erotic romance, some fanfiction.
How often do you get writer’s block? – SIGH. Quite often. I don’t know that it’s Writer’s Block per se, but I get to where I want to write but I don’t have any story ideas. And then once I get a story idea and try to work it out in my head, I convince myself that it’s stupid and it doesn’t get written. Most if it is that I really expect a lot of myself, knowing full well I will not live up to the expectation, so I see myself trying and shake my head at myself.
How do you fix it? – Time. Reading. Force. Sometimes making myself do a couple of prompts breaks something.
Do you type or write by hand? I type. Sometimes I do a 4 point plot overview of a chapter by hand. I’ve outlined a story by hand and even written snippets by hand but for serious writing, I need the laptop. My brain moves faster than my hands do and then they get tired and my hand writing becomes illegible. No one wants to spend an hour trying to figure out what the hell you wrote. Not even you! Lol.
Do you save everything you write?- Yes, unless it’s absolutely just awful and hateful, yes. Never know when you might be able to re-use it.
Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it? – No, but I have revamped and folded it into another story.
Do you have a constructive critic? – Always. I am not very constructive when I criticize myself. ;)
Did you ever write a novel? – I have written two novel length stories. An official novel, no.
What genre would you love to write but haven’t? – I would love to write a Crime Novel- mystery.
What’s one genre you have never written, and probably never will? – Erotica/Porn. I need more love than sex in my stories. But still some sex. Cuz. You know.
How many writing projects are you working on right now? – Right now… mmmm… 1.5. I’m finishing up a short story and I have a novel idea I’ve been working on since April that’s just….hanging out.
Do you write for a living? Do you want to? – I don’t write for a living. And I don’t know if I want to. On the one hand it would be flattering that someone would think my writing was worth paying for. On the other hand, there’s a lot of pressure involved in making money off of creativity.
Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper? – Never, unless you count writing for the school newspaper. High School newspaper.
Have you ever won an award for your writing? – I won several scholarships for my writing when I was in high school. Beyond that, I’ve never entered anything I wrote into anything serious enough. Except for Glimmer Train, which was aiming pretty high anyway.
What are your five favourite words? – Hmmmmmmm. I’ll have to think. I don’t know that I have five favorite words, but subterfuge is one of them. I just like the complication of the word. I like big words.
Do you ever write based on your dreams? – Nah. I don’t remember them long enough for that.
Do you favour happy endings, sad endings, or cliff-hangers? – I don’t know that I favor any of them. I don’t need a happy ending, or a sad one, for that matter. I need an ending that makes sense. Sometimes I finish a book and i’m staring at the back cover like I’m watching the end of the Sopranos. WTF?
Have you ever written based on an artwork you’ve seen? – I don’t think so… I’m more likely to base a story on a lyric than a piece of art.
