Writing Wednesdays 8.10 – Ya know what??? Nuh uh.

Writing Wednesdays 8.10 – Ya know what??? Nuh uh.

Hi folks and fellow writers! It’s another Wednesday, so it’s another day to talk about Writing- where we are with our WIPs and what we’ve discovered during our writing journeys. After a long bout of avoidance and procrastinating on easy stuff and doing everything but working on my novel, I finally pulled out New Project. And ya know what?   No wonder I can’t get past my current point. There’s nothing there! Nothing good, anyway. It’s an info/backstory dump. The story starts in the wrong place. Doesn’t go in depth enough. And doesn’t make the reader care a tiny bit. Yesterday I threatened to delete the whole thing. But I’m […]

#SnippetSunday- 8/7: Rescue Me (Part Duh)

#SnippetSunday- 8/7: Rescue Me (Part Duh)

I have no idea why I named it that, except the decision that my female MC, Gabby, needs to make is such a no brainer. Duh. Here’s a snippet from that story, which will be posted in its entirety at the fanfiction archive and my personal archive. “Your mom, she’s okay?” “More than okay. It was just me and her for a long time, you know? She put herself through nursing school, put me through school. She made it work.” “She must have given you your spunk.” “If that’s what you want to call it, yeah. I’m proud of her. When I graduated, she went back for another degree. And […]

Writing Wednesday Writer’s Meme

I don’t have much of an update for Writing Wednesday so I decided to do a meme. It turned out to be kind of fun. I feel like I would learn so much from other writers just by reading their answers.  I stole this from here. THANKS!   What’s your favourite genre of writing?  –  I write adult fiction, some erotic romance, some fanfiction. How often do you get writer’s block? – SIGH. Quite often. I don’t know that it’s Writer’s Block per se, but I get to where I want to write but I don’t have any story ideas. And then once I get a story idea and try […]

Imagination Sparks Blogfest: Prompt Generator

Imagination Sparks Blogfest: Prompt Generator

I’m participating in the Imagination Sparks Blogfest! This Blogfest is all about getting those good words flowing, and how we do it. Our goal is to post our favorite writing exercises, then go around to the different blogs and try the ideas posted and talk about which ones work best. For me, it’s all about a good prompt. It doesn’t take more than a few words or ‘what if…’ statement to get things going in my mind and give me a jumping off point. Two of my best pieces came from a single line prompt. One of my favorite ways to get a prompt is the prompt generator, which I […]

Snip, snip! It’s Snippet Sunday!

Snip, snip! It’s Snippet Sunday!

I guess I’m staying with that title for now. I decided, since I am writing the sequel to this story right now, to post a snippet of it today. Mostly since I haven’t really gotten that far on the sequel and I think I will be able to post a snip from that one next week. This is from Rescue Me, Originally posted August 8, 2010: He gave her a devilish half grin and rolled to his side. “So there’s a part in that movie, which we‘re probably missing right now, where Edward climbs the trellis outside Vivian’s place, like the Prince in her story. And when he gets to […]

#FridayReads, the Long Lost Participant Edition

#FridayReads, the Long Lost Participant Edition

Haven’t done this in awhile. Back when I had my breakdown I stopped doing everything, including reading. I committed to reading 50 books this year and I am behind by about four books, so I am back in the saddle. Just finished: Silver Sparrow by Tayari Jones – incredibly compelling read. The first part sets the scene… part two sort of blew the top off of my head.  I just kept turning pages to find out what else was going to happen, while biting my nails and trying not to blink. Fantastic book, my fave from Ms. Jones, though I did really enjoy The Untelling.  Recently started: Snowy Night Seduction  by Arianna Hart– Just started […]

WIP Wednesday, all late and such

WIP Wednesday, all late and such

Yeah. I meant to post yesterday but what had happened was… Sometimes I just don’t have much to say, or I have too much to say and I don’t feel like typing it out. There’s only so many times I can say ‘I”m working on two things and they are going okay and also I’m pretty sure that I suck as a writer but then again I think I’m pretty good.” It gets hard to even remember that week after week. So, I don’t blog to blog, I blog when I have something to say. Finding something to say is the problem.  So, on WIP Wednesdays we talk about progress […]

Write On… this week in writing 7/25

Write On… this week in writing 7/25

Good Monday morning to you all (and by all I mean the three or four people that read this blog)! Last week was alternately busy and slackerrific. I started my new story for the archive, due in August. Got about 5500 words in, which is pretty good.  This story is a sequel to one that I wrote for the same challenge last year and only hit around 6500 words. I’m not getting how the sequel is going to be longer… but perhaps because it covers one more night. I don’t know if I should revamp it for the sequel to cover the same span of time, or keep going like […]

Snippet Sunday: Rescue Me II

Snippet Sunday: Rescue Me II

So, I mentioned a few days ago that I would no longer be participating in the official Six Sentence Sunday. I also mentioned that I would continue to post snippets and teasers, so I’m continuing the Sunday posts, just not for the #SixSunday Crew. I need a new name for this feature. Calling it Snippet Sunday for now. Suggestions? Anywhoozle, on to my sentences for today! They’re from the project I’m currently working on for Awesome August, a summer writing challenge at the NF archive. It is a sequel to the story I wrote last year, a cute little ditty that’s reminiscent of Pretty Woman. Enjoy, and please check out last […]
