Holy wow. Well. I just got some very good news, Blog People. I’ve been very shy about submitting work, but I finally got up the nerve to submit to Story Fix. I did not die or explode. This is good news. At the same time, I must have sent the piece to Indie Ink. IndieInk.org is an online writer and artist collective. The image of rain has been rolling around in my head for quite a while. I was trying to figure out if it was supposed to be metaphoric or symbolic, but it just wasn’t coming to me. I guess I was trying too hard, because last night I cued up Youtube and listened to the sound of rain (my writing soundtrack lately) and started writing. Still not quite what I was going for, but it has been haunting me for a long time, so maybe now it’ll leave me alone! Check it — The Nature Show, The Rain Dance:

Today in my romp through my archive of posted work, I came upon a story I tried to write a few years ago but it didn’t take off. I got one good chapter and never wrote anymore. It was actually my first attempt at an Alternate Universe story and it was meant to continue around to the lives of all five members. What I got of it was okay. Maybe someday I’ll finish it or give it to someone who could make it work. What it all comes down to is that I am impatient. I want people to read it all right now. I’m not much of a tease.
Even worse than someone having something bad to say is no one saying anything at all, especially if you are kind of proud of your private bits.
This was a response to a prompt from the Line by Line prompt community on LiveJournal. These were so useful for great exercises. You get a grouping of words and you have to use them in the piece. The words are: she just couldn’t help herself.
I should keep writing.
